On June 12, the ceremony for the reappointment of the director of Nanjing University's Chinese Calligraphy Research Institute and the launch of the "Beautiful Chinese Characters" general education course was held at the Xianlin Campus. Attendees included Sun Xiaoyun, Chairperson of the China Calligraphers Association and Director of Nanjing University's Chinese Calligraphy Research Institute; Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Xu Ning, Member of the Standing Committee and Director General of the Publicity Department, CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee; and Zhang Zhaoyang, Chairman at Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing & Media Group Co Ltd. The ceremony was hosted by Chen Yunsong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC NJU Committee.
At the ceremony, Tan Zhemin presented the appointment letter to Sun Xiaoyun, officially reappointing her as the director of the Chinese Calligraphy Research Institute.
Subsequently, Tan Zhemin, Sun Xiaoyun, and Xu Ning jointly launched the "Beautiful Chinese Characters" general education course. As Chinese calligraphy is a treasure of Chinese culture, this course aims to guide students to appreciate and practice traditional Chinese calligraphy.
The ceremony also included a book donation from Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing & Media Group Co Ltd. to Nanjing University Library, followed by Sun Xiaoyun signing books for attendees.
Established in June 2018, Nanjing University's Chinese Calligraphy Research Institute aims to promote traditional Chinese culture and become a vital center for cultural transmission and development.
