On May 26, Nanjing University held the third session of the Seventh Congress of Faculty and Staff Representatives and the Eighteenth Congress of Union Members at the Xianlin Campus. The meeting was attended by Tan Tieniu, the Secretary of the CPC NJU committee and Academician of the CAS; Tan Zhemin, President of NJU and Academician of the CAS; as well as more than 300 faculty and staff representatives. The attendees gathered to discuss the university's development. The meeting was chaired by Chen Yunsong, Vice Secretary of the CPC NJU committee.
In his speech, Tan Tieniu emphasized the importance and potential of the work of the two congresses in the new era. He stressed that the congresses should focus on promoting team building and fostering a spirit of dedication and excellence among faculty and staff. Additionally, he highlighted the need to create a supportive environment by providing diverse and effective services to faculty and staff and enhancing the effectiveness of the congresses through better governance and capacity building.
Tan Zhemin reported on the university's progress over the past year, noting significant achievements in various areas. He highlighted that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, and a crucial year for achieving the goals of the 14th Five-Year Plan. He called for unity and dedication to meet the demands of the new era, emphasizing the congresses' role in unifying and leading the faculty and staff to fulfill their educational and national service missions.
The meeting included the election of new committee members and group discussions on various topics related to the university’s development.
