On May 20, 2024, Nanjing University held a congress to summarize its progress over the past ten years and plan for the future development. The congress was part of NJU's 122nd anniversary events. Key attendees included Xu Ying, Member of the Standing Committee and Director General of the Publicity Department, CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee; Tan Tieniu, the Secretary of the CPC NJU committee and Academician of the CAS; Tan Zhemin, President of NJU and Academician of the CAS; as well as other provincial and city officials.
Xu Ying highlighted that this year marks the tenth anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s important instruction on the "First Nanjing University." She emphasized the significance of reflecting on the decade-long progress and planning the next steps for further development. Xu stated that the university should enhance its role in national development, contributing significantly to Chinese modernization and national rejuvenation.
Tan Tieniu recounted the university's achievements over the past ten years. He urged the university to continuously uphold its tradition of serving the country. He called for accelerating the development of the "First Nanjing University," contributing to the broader goals of building a strong education system, and advancing scientific achievements.
Tan Zhemin highlighted the university's commitment to the national progress and global academic excellence. He pointed out that the university's future efforts would focus on nurturing talent, advancing scientific and research capabilities, and promoting international cooperation.
During the conference, awards were presented to outstanding individuals and groups from Nanjing University, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence. The event also featured speeches from alumni, faculty, and student representatives, reflecting on their experiences and aspirations.
