On May 17th, Nanjing University held a press conference to present its achievements over the past two years. It has announced several key major initiatives, including the launch of a program to support young scholars in modern Chinese civilization studies.
During this period, Nanjing University has attained significant milestones. The institution has been honored with multiple national teaching awards and has pioneered the integration of artificial intelligence into general education in China. Additionally, it has established four new national-level scientific research and innovation platforms, targeting both national priorities and global technological frontiers. Nanjing University has also led the nation in modern Chinese civilization research and successfully initiated several academic journals. Furthermore, the university has strengthened practical collaborations with prestigious institutions such as the University of Cambridge, the University of Helsinki, and various international organizations. Its "Global Talent Attraction Action" has been pivotal in attracting talent from around the world.
During the event, Nanjing University signed agreements with partners to co-establish several initiatives, including the "Deep Time Digital Earth," "Nanjing Biomedical and Medical Electron Microscopy Technology Research Center," "China Reform and Opening-Up Basic Data Integration Series," and "Digital Humanities and Urban Innovation Research."
Tan Tieniu, the Secretary of the CPC NJU committee and Academician of the CAS, stressed that these announcements not only summarized past achievements but also outlined the university's future direction. He reiterated Nanjing University's commitment to building a world-class institution with distinctive Chinese characteristics. Tan emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance the educational system, address critical core technologies, contribute to the innovation and development of modern China.
