On May 14, the inauguration ceremony of the Wing-man Pavilion was held. The ceremony was attended by Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, former Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Mrs. Sophia Dan, BBS, MH, JP, a member of the board of Nanjing University and Chairman of Wah Fu Petroleum Co., Ltd; and Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The ceremony was presided over by Zou Yajun, Vice President of Nanjing University.
Wing-man Pavilion, funded by Mrs. Sophia Dan, took eight years to complete, showcasing the elegance of architectural art.
During the ceremony, Carrie Lam shared her experiences visiting mainland universities with Mrs. Sophia Dan in recent years. She emphasized Mrs. Dan's dedication to China's higher education and her desire to invest more resources in its development.
In his speech, Tan Zhemin highlighted that Wing-man Pavilion reflects Mrs. Sophia Dan's passionate commitment to education and her long-term support of Nanjing University. He noted that the pavilion is destined to become a beautiful sight and a landmark on the Xianlin campus of Nanjing University.
Tan Zhemin presented a certificate of appreciation and a building model to Mrs. Sophia Dan, and they jointly unveiled the plaque commemorating the construction of Wing-man Pavilion.
