On May 14, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, former Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Mrs. Sophia Dan, BBS, MH, JP, a member of the board of Nanjing University and Chairman of Wah Fu Petroleum Co., Ltd, visited Nanjing University. They participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Wing-man Pavilion and interacted with students and faculty. They were welcomed by Tan Tieniu, the Secretary of the CPC NJU committee and Academician of the CAS , and Tan Zhemin, President of NJU and Academician of the CAS.
On behalf of the university, Tan Tieniu extended a warm welcome to Carrie Lam and Sophia Dan, and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their longstanding support for NJU. He introduced the latest development of the university. He highlighted the university's commitment to promoting collaboration between Jiangsu and Hong Kong. In recent years, NJU has strengthened its exchanges with Hong Kong and deepened its cooperation with various sectors of Hong Kong society. Tan expressed his hope to further enhance this cooperation, combining the wisdom of Jiangsu and Hong Kong to advance talent cultivation, research innovation, and cultural exchange.
Carrie Lam acknowledged NJU's educational achievements and noted that Jiangsu has abundant higher education resources. She highlighted Hong Kong universities' advanced experience in international development and their remarkable achievements. Lam expressed hope that the collaboration between universities in Jiangsu, Hong Kong, and Macau could be expanded to more fields.
