On May 7, Harry Shum Heung-Yeung, Chairman of the University Council, and Nancy Y. IP, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), led a delegation to visit NJU. Tan Tieniu, the Secretary of the CPC NJU committee and Academician of CAS, met the delegation at the Gulou Campus. Both sides had fruitful discussions for deepening the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.
Tan Tieniu extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the rich history and recent development of NJU. He underscored the university's steadfast commitment to innovation and its ongoing efforts towards internationalization. Tan Tieniu said that the two universities signed the strategic cooperation agreement last year, and hoped that both universities would continue to collaborate closely.
Harry Shum Heung-Yeung expressed his hope for strengthening cooperation between the two universities, highlighting the opportunity to leverage the complementary strengths for mutual advancement.
Nancy Y. IP emphasized the close ties between NJU and HKUST. She stressed that artificial intelligence is a key focus area for HKUST, and expressed her desire for deeper collaboration between the two institutions in this field, as well as in medicine, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Tim Kwang Ting Cheng, Vice President for Research and Development of HKUST, Zheng Hairong, Vice President of NJU, and Ding Aijun, Assistant to the President of NJU, also attended the meeting. Lu Yanqing, Vice President of NJU, presided over the discussions.
