Nanjing University holds 12th Young Scholars Forum and Campus Open Day

On December 26, the 12th NJU Young Scholars Forum was held, with sub-forums at Schools and Colleges and Campus Open Day activities taking place in Nanjing and Suzhou. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Hua, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and Head of the Organization Department attended and address at the opening ceremony. Wang Zhenlin, Vice President of NJU chaired the first half of the ceremony.

On behalf of Nanjing University, Tan extended a sincere welcome to the participating young talents, and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and Nanjing Municipal People's Government for their care and support for NJU's development. He strongly believed that the 12th Young Scholars Forum will open a new chapter, just as the number "twelve" signifies the consummation of a cycle and the beginning of another round in traditional Chinese culture.

By sharing with the participants his own experiences, Tan encouraged them to return to their home country and contribute their wisdom and strength to the nation's further development. He quoted Book of Songs to explain the theme of the Young Scholars Forum, "talents gather at the sound of deer", to express NJU's sincerity and eagerness to recruit talents. He encouraged participating young scholars to take this forum as an opportunity to know more about NJU and fulfil their aspirations here.

Wang Hua introduced policies, platforms, mechanisms and actions of recruiting talents in Nanjing and highlighted the agreement signed between Nanjing City and NJU in 2023. He recalled the progress in the past year and confirmed that the Municipal Government will continue to enhance the talents' sense of achievement and belonging. On behalf of the Municipal Government, he wished that young talents will choose NJU and contribute to the construction of Chinese style of modernization.

Wang Zhenlin introduced to the young scholars in detail the history of Nanjing University, the construction of Suzhou Campus, recruitment policies and high-level talent policies. He emphasized that as a famous university with an illustrious history, Nanjing University has now entered a new stage of synergistic development of its four campuses. He warmly welcomed more young scholars to join NJU and a work together to create a more brilliant future.

The second half of the opening ceremony was chaired by Miao Feng, Director of NJU Human Resource Office. Chen Luhong, Deputy Director of NJU Office of Science and Technology and Zhang Ming, Deputy Director of NJU Office of Humanities and Social Sciences, introduced the University’s scientific and technological innovation and humanities and social sciences research respectively.

In the interaction session, representatives of relevant departments answered questions raised by young scholars, which successfully concluded the opening ceremony with warm exchanges.

There are 400 young scholars from home and abroad as well as representatives from NJU departments and schools who attended the ceremony. After the opening ceremony, young scholars took part in Open Day activities. They visited three campuses in Suzhou, Gulou and Xianlin, entered the laboratories of the relevant faculties, and participated in the sub-forums organized by the schools and research units.
