On December 2, during the inaugural Global University Presidents & Leaders Summit 2024, Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, on behalf of Nanjing University, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation in the medical field between NJU and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) with Nancy Y. IP, President of HKUST, further deepening cooperation in scientific research between the two sides.

From December 1 to 3, Tan attended the inaugural Global University Presidents & Leaders Summit 2024 and delivered a keynote speech. The first Global University Presidents & Leaders Summit 2024 was initiated and organized by the Hong Kong Association for External Friendship. During the summit, Tan Zhemin delivered a keynote speech entitled “Opportunities and Challenges: The Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Education”. Over 600 participants shared and exchanged views on issues concerning artificial intelligence, university governance and future education.
