From December 1 to 3, Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended Global University Presidents & Leaders Summit 2024 in Hong Kong, and delivered a keynote speech titled "Opportunities and Challenges: The Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Education".

Tan pointed out that higher education has entered a new era represented and driven by AI, and therefore it is crucial to integrate AI into education. He discussed the educational transformation driven by AI, the impact of AI on educational targets, content, methods and the mission of universities, and introduced NJU's attempts and endeavor in exploring the integration of AI and education. During the Q&A session, Tan especially introduced NJU's Artificial Intelligence General Education Core Course (AIGECC) curriculum system. He emphasized that integrating AI with higher education is one of the major tasks facing humanity in the future. niversities should play a key role in promoting the development of AI during the globalization of knowledge for the benefit of society.
