On August 19, 2024, the 40th meeting of the Jiangsu Development Forum was held at Nanjing University. This meeting focused on the theme "further deepening reform to vigorously advance the new practice of Chinese modernization in Jiangsu." Among the leaders present at the meeting were Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, Governor Xu Kunlin, and Zhang Yizhen, Chairwoman of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference.
The forum was hosted by Hong Yinxing, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University and Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Tan Tieniu, Party Secretary of the CPC NJU committee and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, introduced the details of the "Nanjing University Action Plan for the New Practice of ChineseModernization in Jiangsu."
Experts from universities, research institutions, financial management departments, and the business sector participated in the meeting. Discussions covered topics such as improving total factor productivity, achieving technological self-reliance, building a modern industrial system, and accelerating green and low-carbon transitions. Experts and scholars proposed various strategies for reform and development, including upgrading traditional industries, expanding emerging industries, and fostering future industries. They also suggested integrating technology and industry innovation, promoting digital RMB applications, and enhancing institutional openness to attract new trade, investment, and talent.
Xin Changxing and Xu Kunlin attentively listened to the speeches and reviewed the academic reports, appreciating the participants for their deep thinking and unique insights. Xin Changxing emphasized the importance of conducting thorough research to plan and refine various reform initiatives. He called for a focus on real problems, conducting in-depth theoretical and practical research to advance the new practice of Chinese modernization in Jiangsu.
