On October 26, 2024, hosted by the Graduate Student Union of Nanjing University, NJU's YouthTalk event, titled "Splendid World, Colorful Attire", successfully took place at Nanqing Gelu on Gulou Campus. The event gathered over 20 students from nine countries, who shared their traditional attire through presentations, hands-on experiences, and a runway show.
To kick off the event, participants introduced their traditional clothing, discussing its historical significance and cultural symbolism. Vietnamese students showcased the elegant Ao Dai, Colombian students introduced the vibrant Pollera and Mola, and Pakistani students presented the traditional Shalwar Kameez along with the intricate Henna art. Chinese students also provided insights into modern adaptations of traditional Hanfu, inviting international students to try on Mamian skirts, which generated enthusiastic engagement.
The event concluded with an impressive runway show, where international students donned their traditional attire and confidently walked the red carpet, highlighting the distinct beauty of their cultural heritage. Participants expressed that the fashion showcase not only underscored NJU's inclusive and diverse campus atmosphere but also offered students from various cultural backgrounds a unique opportunity for exchange. Through the lens of fashion, the event fostered cross-cultural understanding and celebrated the spirit of global cultural dialogue.
