Nanjing University professor Zhou Zhihua was elected chair of IJCAI-21 program committee at the recent International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) held in Melbourne, Australia.
Zhou is the first mainland Chinese scholar who holds this post. Before him, Yang Qiang from Hong Kong served as chair of IJCAI-15 program committee.
After being elcted, Zhou expressed his hope that through the joint efforts of all, the contributions and influence of Chinese scholars can grow further, producing good research outputs and making great impact in the world.
The chair of IJCAI program committee is mainly responsible for such technical matters of the conference as organization of the program committee, screening of papers, calling for meetings, and monitoring of academic quality.
Zhou is a “local scholar,” meaning that he completed his bachelor’s, master’s and doctor’s degrees all at Nanjing University.
He joined the faculty in 2001 upon graduation and currently serves as executive deputy director of the State Key Laboratory for Novel Software Technology at Nanjing University, deputy director of Department of Computer Science and Technology, and a member of both the university and departmental academic committees.
